Welcome to Harrisville, Michigan.
When you are here we invite you to enjoy the beauty of Harrisville, Michigan.
Harrisville,
Michigan is the county seat for Alcona County, Michigan and the land
is enhanced by the pristine waters of Lake Huron. Harrisville
is located at the junction of M-72 and U.S 23, (the only stop light
in the county). Harrisville, Michigan began as a community
when fishermen Simeon Holden and Crosier Davison established
Davison's Mill in 1854. Benjamin Harris and sons arrived from
New York and purchased the mill. Harrisville, Michigan was
named after them in 1860. Harrisville was incorporated as a
village in 1887 and a city in 1905.
Harbor Park is one of our favorites and is located right in town just north of main street. The rapids at the mouth of the Mill Creek enter the harbor here and the sound is a great backdrop for a picnic or just a stroll around the marina. The Pavilion hosts musical performances all summer long and the park is host to our fireworks in celebration of July 4th.
The links at the right will take you to some of the cool sites around town. Moosetales is a unique gift shop, The Widow's Watch is an excellent B & B and Coastal Highway 23 is a great local web site.
